The Lonely Forest played their fourth show of their 15 show tour with the Scottish band We Were Promised Jetpacks at Neumos on Tuesday night. If you were lucky enough to get in to this shoulder to shoulder sardine-packed room to catch these guys play you heard some incredible new music that probably gave you a good tingly feeling on the inside… you know, where is counts. The guys were rad as always and kept rocking their catchy little melodies all night – even though it seemed John broke the keyboard at one point, but that would be nothing new for these guys. Epic.

I’ve seen the band maybe half a dozen times now and each time is an experience. From keyboards flying to John flailing all over the floor to everyone howling and to the more mellow intimate shows where the music really pulls you in, TLF delivers. If you’ve never been to a TLF show before, make like a tree and check out the forest! (horrible horrible attempt at a bad joke, I know!) Oh hey, between you and me, there’s rumors of another show coming up soon too, so you’d better get in on this early so you can see them. And by soon, I mean… well.. soon! Details on the way, promise!
After the show last night, the band and I chatted for a few about being on the road and what is to come when they’re back in town. Once TLF is done touring in mid-March they’ll be headed into the studio with Chris Walla to work on their fourth album. Crazy, right?? Tony, TLF’s Guitarist, said that he was a fan of Death Cab For Cutie and working with Walla was incredible. After hearing the guys play some new songs last night TLF’s new album is definitely something to look forward to in the near future. Can I pre-order something that hasn’t been recorded yet? The band has so much potential and their music really is THAT good! I highly recommend checking out their latest album, We Sing The Body Electric! (it’s pretty awesome), or some of my fav tracks from their other albums “Lessons In Miscommunication” “Nuclear Winter” or “God Is Dead”. Or heck, just get their music from iTunes right now and crank it up!
