Almost every single week, while hosting the Locals Only show, I get requests for Seattle’s own People Eating People. Well, you fans will be happy to see the brand new video the band recently released for the song “Rain, Rain,” from their latest full-length record. It’s absolutely adorable. Singer/pianist Nouela Johnston made all the paper characters herself, and friends helped her film and edit it. <3!

On Sunday night Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head dropped by the studio to announce some big news… they’re OVER! Sort of. The band has changed their name to Brite Futures (apparently Miss Portman wasn’t so stoked about their moniker), and they also have some brand new material, which they debuted on the show! They also played a handful of other local artists that they’re currently calling favorites. Here’s what we heard:

Brite Futures – “Me + Yr Daughter”
Portugal. The Man – “60 Years”
Top Less Gay Love Teckno Party – “Robin”
Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band – “At Night” (brand new song not yet heard on Locals Only!)
Brite Futures – “Dog Eared Summer”
Copy – “I Can Smell It”
Sean Downey (Vidooch) – “Once Above”
Nirvana – “Rape Me”
Head Like a Kite – “We’re Always On the Wrong Side of Sunrise”
Brite Futures – “My Funk”
Shoplifting – “Mustang Sally”
Strfkr – “Boy Toy”

Be sure to check out Brite Futures on Saturday, July 17th at Nuemos as part of Vera’s Drink for the Kids finale. And all this week, you can participate in the annual Drink for the Kids fundraiser–all you have to do is show up to one of the bars the Vera Project is visiting and buy a drink! Proceeds will be donated to the all-ages venue. It can’t get any easier than that. Find out more (and see the schedule of what bars they’re at and when) at adrinkforthekids.org.
