There are certain moments you don’t expect. Ones that were coming regardless but you didn’t foresee going by quite like they did, or for them to turn into more moments. 6 minutes and 21 seconds worth in this case and whatever my night might have been before I pushed play, is something entirely different now. The debut track from Mirroring, a duo comprised of Grouper and former Sub Pop signee Tiny Vipers, takes you away from wherever you’re sitting and transports you to the farthest reaches of the sea, thick into the forrest under a moonless night, to the depths of space, and to the back row of a warn down cinema all in tandem. Taking you by the hand and leading you along, mixing your feelings like strong drinks. Floating, completely content and entirely hollow, simultaneously. Subtle, ominous, pulsing ambience, epic in an apocalyptic, continent splitting sort of way radiates slowly but deliberately from the speakers. Exerting an energy of finality and permanence on a spectral level. Few things hit the way “Fell Sound” does. Look for the full length due out March 19th via Kranky. For now listen below…

So here’s a much welcomed, unexpected surprise dropped in our laps. A brand new demo from Robin Pecknold entitled “Olivia, In A Seperate Bed” which made it’s way onto Soundcloud just over an hour ago. The song comes to us after a string of tweets (since deleted) from Robin last night (and some indicators from previous days) which would lead us to assume this as the musical manifestation of the demise of his long time relationship.

:/ A real beautiful bummer of a tune. Have a listen below…

It seems that the whole Lana Del Rey backlash fiasco hasn’t made the indie scene any less excited to welcome a new pop songstress with open arms, albeit this times perhaps less shrouded in secrecy and controversy, instead english singer Charli XCX (who supported Lana on some of her UK dates) delivers electronic tinged bubble-gum pop that lives in the wrapper of darker 8os influences. Hear the heartbreak anthem “Stay Away” below and look for more from this voice in the coming year

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything bubbling up at the Garbage camp. Seven years since releasing their last album (and a decade+ since releasing a good one) Not Your Kind Of People finds its way to your download folder on May 15th.

Butch Vig has been making bazillions of dollars recording a Foo Fighters album, and he finally has the time to sit down and just mess around with his old band. Do you think anything good will come of it? Here’s just a mouth watering taste of what the record will sound like – :60 seconds of “I Hate Love” appropriately uploaded late on Valentine’s Day <3
