He’s the author of the VERY succussful “Zombie Survival Guide” and “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War” the latter of which will be released as a movie starring Brad Pitt later this year.

Brooks will be speaking at University of Washington’s Kane Hall on Tuesday, February 28th if you want to pick his brain

Here’s a rundown from the ASUW who are putting on the event

Zombies welcome! Max Brooks, considered by many to be one of the world’s foremost Zombie preparedness experts, will be on campus to talk books, movies, and the walking dead. Born in New York City in 1972, Brooks’ introduction to the living dead began with a traumatic childhood incident, an incident he still refuses to discuss. Since that time, he has devoted much of his life to the study and development of anti-ghoul security, as evidenced by his books The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.This event is presented by ASUW Arts and Entertainment, First Year Program, HUB Soundbites, and Humans Vs. Announced today, the cartoon band has created a track called “DoYaThing” with LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and Andre 3000 of OutKast.

You’ll be able to snag the track as a free download starting February 23 at the Converse website. This is in conjunction with the band releasing four more styles of their custom Converse shoe that hard-core shoe/band fans have been drooling over for awhile.

Why do we care?

Because Durst took the Mic at Rock & Reilly’s and busted out a beat box version of “Nookie” (along with a number of other songs like Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.”

Welcome to the karaoke equivalent of a band wearing it’s own t-shirt on stage.

Here’s the performance

The film takes a look at the band during their 2011 “Railroad Revival Tour” with Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeroes and Old Crow Medicine Show.

The concept was a cool one. Put together 15 vintage train cars from the 50’s and 60’s, pile a bunch of like minded musicians on board. Then eat, drink and sleep and record music on a trip across America.

The film will premiere in Austin at the SXSW Film Festival in mid-march.
Mumford & Sons continue to work on a new record which should (hopefully) be out this year.

The bands 6th record is called “Roses” and the celebrate (a little early) the band stopped by Jimmy Fallon to perform a couple of songs.

Don’t forget White’s solo record “Blunderbuss” will be out April 23rd and you can see him live at Sasquatch, Memorial Day Weekend at the Gorge (pre-sale starts tomorrow).

What’s weird are the “friends” they’re inviting. It’s not who you would expect (insert any number of metal bands here). Instead they’ll be sharing the stage with Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, Gaslight Anthem, Cage The Elephant and more

It’s also the first time that they’ll play The Black Album in it’s entirety on US soil
