This is the sorta story that high school kids will tell for decades.
Say what you will about pot, drugs etc. You have to like the balls on this kid.

A student who was presenting his senior essay (which was on supporting the legalization of marijuana.) at Peninsula High School in Purdy on Tuesday took out a marijuana joint, lit it, and began smoking it, police said.He then finished his essay, sat down, finished smoking the joint and then ate the end after it was fully smoked.
The teacher of the class contacted the school resources officer, a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy, who found a small residual amount of marijuana on the student.
The student, a 17-year-old with a 3.7 grade-point average, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana by Pierce County deputies and booked into Remann Hall in Tacoma.
______________________________________Right or Wrong, you have to respect someone that makes a strong statement, that they know is going to get them in trouble, that they know is going to get noticed (yet doesn’t hurt anyone), for something that they believe in.
I have actually worked with some very nice, cool people down at Peninsula High School that last 2 years. The school has a very cool radio program.
I certainly don’t fault the school or the teacher for doing what they did. That is their job (which they would lose if they didn’t do something)However, I hope they go easy on the kid, who certainly made a gutsy and interesting statement about something that is debated every day in the country.

YEAH IAN BERRY!!!! This is the funniest thing ive ever heard. I picked the wrong day to miss school. I admire him for this.

I think it was a completely stupid move. And there was no reason for him to “fall on the sword” like like that. What ever he was trying to say in his speach (which I heard was a great speach) hardly means anything now, all people are going to see now from that presantation is that weed promots defience. You all can say “I admire him” but why? it was a stupid thing to do and know he might get expeled or suspended (If havent already). And i hope they dont go easy on him and treat him like every outher pot smocking kid.

I am no more compelled to commend this child than I am to commend any other criminal for commiting a crime that they might show how bold they are. Boldness can easily descend into foolishness, especially when you are on a brain cell slaughtering, and cancerous masquerade. Whether I am a descendant from Australopithecus Afarensis or Adam; I am not compelled to mutilate my body for “good-times-sake”. We will distort the facts to whatever extent we need to support our theories and choices, it is no longer about truth, but self satisfaction…
We will use “science” to deny morality, and then we will deny science to support immorality… A funny society we live in today… Exalt biology when we feel it testifies there is no need for morality, but deny biology when it testifies to the destruction sedatives (specifically marijuana) will inflict on us as organisms… Pathetic, yet the hypocrisy is still humorous…

I certainly hope none agree with his actions nor indulge themselves to acheive his likeness… This individual is a fool, and will increase in his foolishness for self satisfactions sake… We will distort the facts, and enorse that distortion so long as it justifies us, its not about truth anymore…
… So the human race proceeds with its common practices, feeding ourselves lies, mutilating the truth so we can give ourselves a temporary feeling of pseudo-satisfaction… I can only laugh when that temporary suppliment manifests itself as personal tribulations, pestilences and calamities on those who indulge…

Thanks for providing me with a link, heres my speculation with scientific fortifcation:
The lengths we will go for the sake of supplementing our self satisfaction… even if we must mutilate our bodies to achieve it and deny science to justify it.
Before he quotes famous philosophers, he should become acquainted with the principles and the philosophy of logic. He uses fallacious logic, an argumentum ad populum to support marijuana use. To suggest that the quantity or quality of supporters tells anything of marijuana is a direct fallacy of logic; a simple principle of philosophy, the very doctrine in which he uses the advocates of to support his argument… And lets not stop there, we must now use misleading logic. He then quotes Johnny Depp: “but weed is much, much less dangerous than alcohol”, what a frail and irrelevant line of argumentation. Should I therefore support a rapist and murderer because he is better than Hitler? Furthermore I found many scientific studies that testify marijuana as worse than alcohol (They will be listed further below).
I find it pathetic on suffocating levels that we distort the truth for our own self satisfactions sake; when this pseudo-satisfaction fades, tribulation, pestilence, and calamity will embrace those who indulge in such foolish doctrines.
Because there were no scientific notations in this gentlemen’s paper, I would like to provide some of my own.
Any who suggest marijuana has no negative effect are under the delusions of the very substance they advocate… betrayed by your own harlot…
According to the New England Journal of Medicine as well as the National Institute for Drug Abuse marijuana is indeed a cancerous substance: “Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day” Marijuana also causes respiratory problems and increases ones probability of chest colds as well as other illnesses.1
Continued investigation reveals “both animal and human studies have shown that marijuana impairs the ability of T-cells in the lungs’ immune system to fight off some infections.” 2
The American Cancer Society testifies to the fruits of marijuana: “…marijuana can cause a number of effects, including feelings of euphoria, short-term memory loss, difficulty in completing complex tasks, changes in the perception of time and space, sleepiness, anxiety, confusion, and inability to concentrate. In studies, cannabinoids have been linked with dizziness, depression, paranoia, and hallucinations. Other side effects include low blood pressure, rapid heart beat, and heart palpitations… decrease reproductive function, cause lung disease, and increase the risk of cancer of the lungs, mouth, and tongue. It may also suppress the body’s immune system and increase the risk of leukemia in children whose mothers smoke marijuana during pregnancy… symptoms of a marijuana overdose include nausea, vomiting, hacking cough, disturbances to heart rhythms, and numbness in the limbs. Chronic use can also lead to laryngitis, bronchitis, and general apathy. With chronic use, the ability to learn and remember new information may become impaired… Although it is rare, severe shutdown of blood circulation to the arms or legs has been reported in young people who smoked marijuana. In some cases, it was so severe that amputation was required. Marijuana may also serve as a trigger for a heart attack on rare occasions, usually within an hour after smoking. Allergic reactions, some severe, have been reported.” 9
Continued speculation on the cancerous nature of marijuana: “Marijuana smoke contains carcinogenic (cancer-causing) substances such as benzopyrene, benzanthracene, and benzene in higher concentrations than are present in tobacco smoke. (Marijuana has 70% more cancer-causing tars than tobacco.) Marijuana smoke produces four times the amount of insoluble particulates (tar). The mechanism by which benzopyrene causes cancer in smokers has now been demonstrated scientifically.” 10 The Journal of Immunology recently reported that THC, the major psychoactive component of marijuana, can promote tumor growth by impairing the body’s anti-tumor immunity system.11 Babies born to mothers who use marijuana during pregnancy have an 1,100% increase in non-lymphoblastic leukemia.
Marijuana contrasted with alcohol, other sedatives and driving
We are presented an argument, that argument tells us that marijuana has caused no deaths. I would agree that it is unlikely that the initial inhalation of marijuana is unlikely to kill anyone, however this argument is a straw man. The argument puts very small margins on the causes of death; let me elaborate…
Since marijuana impairs coordination, perception, and judgment, it is the cause of many accidents. A study of 1023 hospitalized trauma victims revealed that marijuana had been used by 34.7% of them, alcohol had been used by 33.5%.3 A study of 182 fatal truck crashes revealed that 12.8% of the drivers had used marijuana, 12.5% alcohol, 8.5% cocaine, 7.9% stimulants.4 A roadside study of reckless drivers not believed to be impaired by alcohol found that 45% tested positive for marijuana.5 The effects of marijuana, which is fat soluble, persist much longer than the effects of alcohol, which is water- soluble. An experiment on pilots, using a computerized flight simulator, showed that their ability to land a plane was still impaired 24 hours after smoking a single marijuana cigarette.6
One must account for those deaths labeled “accidents” Hamish Turner, president of the Coroners’ Society, told The Telegraph that marijuana, often portrayed as harmless, has increasingly been the cause of deaths that have been reported as accidents or suicides.13
Marijuana and testicular cancer
Researchers found that men who smoked marijuana once a week or began to use the substance on a long-term basis while adolescents incurred double the risk for developing the fastest-spreading version of testicular cancer—nonseminoma, which accounts for about 40 percent of all cases.7
“Since we know that the incidence of testicular cancer has been rising in our country and in Europe over the last 40 years and that marijuana use has also risen over the same time, it seemed logical that there might be an association between the two,”… “And when I analyzed the data, we found a fairly strong relationship with this aggressive type of testicular cancer.”
- Janet Daling, an epidemiologist and member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s public health sciences division in Seattle
It continues “previous human and animal research has indicated that marijuana use might lead to reduced hormonal production (particularly testosterone), poorer semen quality and impotency in men.” 8
Only fortified by further scientific inquiry: “Marijuana decreases testosterone production and sperm counts in males.” 12
But of course, this is all government controlled information, Britain too, they’re in on it… By the way, did you notice a common side effect of marijuana is paranoid delusions…
To conclude, this was simply a demonstration of a boys uncontrollable lust for the sedative driving him to deny science and reality to justify his foolish actions. Interestingly enough his ignorance went so far as to lead him to consume marijuana in front of the class. Heroism at its best, a ignorant, cancerous, self-mutilating masquerade. Join in boys and girls, indulge in whatever leads you to self satisfaction. I’m sure you’ll find a way to justify it, likely in ignorance.

Now imagine if jordan would do a piece on a real problem in society even the common cold is worse then marijuana. infact 100% of all symptoms you have listed off can happen without smoking any marijuana. so to attribute anything to a drug when it can happen on its own is folly. the worse being CANCER yes even Lung cancer happens to people who do not smoke! yes even heart attacks happen to otherwise healthy people. Dont be scared of marijuana like jordan would have you be it wont kill you.

Jordan you also dont even touch the subject of its negative effect on the society’s that already have legalized it.. oops there are none thats why you didn’t cover that.. my bad.

We will also die without shooting our self in the head, shall we do that as well? I should have known nothing but frail argumentation in which contradicts itself were to be used in defence of this child. Considering the only reason any can defend this substance is because their lusts burn for it.

I did actually… legalized or not; marijuana is not discriminitave, the biological destruction it causes is still there. As has been scientifically demonstrated in each of the studies linked to the scientific articles.
