The Shins just posted some cool behind The scenes footage of the making of their new track “Simple Song”. Not sure if this is the “official” video for the track or just a nice peek behind the curtain. Either way…we’ll take it

Don’t forget, you can still win passes today/tomorrow to see James Mercer play an exclusive End Session at the Red Hook Brewery. He’ll bust out acoustic versions of a couple new Shins songs (as well as some old ones) next week

The bands new record “Port of Morrow” will be available everywhere 3.20.12.

Gorillaz have given us a little more info about the new song they’re making for Converse at the end of the month. Murdoc (who does most of the bands interviews) has released a 6 minute statement talking about the track.

According to him:
“this track is going to knock everything else Gorillaz have done out of the park.”

We like that idea.
Here’s what he had to say

From Jack White to Radiohead, it seems as if every time Stephen Colbert has musical guests on the show it’s must watch television

Last night with Björk was no exception

In NYC for a string of shows the pride of Iceland answered Colbert questions like: “Why sullly something as beautiful as music with science?”

See it go down here:

WOW. Is it weird that you’re allowed to watch porn in the library?

Recently a woman at the Lake City Library complained when she encountered a man watching hard-core porn on a screen in full view of library patrons

When she asked the librarian to do something…the librarian refused:

From Komo News:

“She could see the screen from the information desk where we were standing and was sympathetic, but said that the library doesn’t censor content,”

“And they can’t be in the business of monitoring what their patrons are doing at any given computer.”

The woman then asked the man to move. He refused.

Andra Addison, a spokesperson for Seattle libraries told Komo News:

“We don’t tell people what they can view and check out … Filters compromise freedom of speech protected by the First Amendment. We’re not in the business of censoring information.”

Even though, according to The Supreme Court libraries ARE allowed to filter info saying:

“A public library has never been required to include all constitutionally protected speech in its collection and has traditionally had the authority, for example, to legitimately decline to include adult-oriented material such as pornography in its collection. This same discretion continues to exist with respect to Internet materials.

Despite this, Seattle Public Libraries stand by keeping the info non-filtered and frankly…that’s awesome. Way to stick to your guns in the face of an awkward situation
