Consequence of Sound points out that while making rounds doing press for his latest film (which seems to be getting….mixed reviews) We Bought A Zoo, Cameron Crowe stopped by Pearl Jam’s Sirius/XM station to premier a long lost PJ demo, “Chinese”, which likely bubbled up from the abyss during his archive raiding sessions for the PJ20 (which if you haven’t seen it yet, is still streaming on Netflix and is phenomenal), accordingly from 1991, it’s less than structured and Eddies Vocals are from the center point, but it’s certainly indicative of the meandering and less rock centric stance PJ would take on their music in years to come. Yeah, it feels a little soon to be covering her I agree, but goddamn they did it and they did it right. I admittedly haven’t listened to any of Silver Swans original material yet, but I’m about to get right on it if it’s anything like this. They turn the already beautiful harp driven sex-anthem, into a bubble bath of spaced out vocals and pulsing pleasant synths. Throw this puppy on at the new years party and get that first kiss you’ve been hoping for out of your latest crush…check it out below

Well this was unexpected, but really we’ve all just been waiting for years for this band of weirdos to take on the Beatles most famous peculiar anthem (I think we can all agree on that label right?), and not surprisingly, they do quite well (and covered in….is that a space blanket?) Check out the video below….

Yep, that’s the real album art he posted accompanying this mix (and I can’t hate him for that). It’s only guys like Diplo who are talented enough to release “throwaway tracks” and have them out of the gate be better than 90% of the sh-t out there. Responsible for production on MIA, Major Lazer, and Beyonce records, to name a few and remixing everyone from Sleigh Bells to Daft Punk it’s safe to say the guy is an “in demand” name in the biz (not to mention our little run in with him earlier this year) Even if you don’t know a ton about dance music, lets just say when Diplo decides to drop this thing “Inna few days” you won’t look uncool bumping this. Enjoy below…

P.S. Does this prove that the bird really is the word?

The XX made last years sexy-time anthem with Crystalized and then Jamie XX made one of my favorite songs of the year when he remixed Gil Scott-Heron’s final record with jams like NY is Killing Me and I’ll Take Care Of You. Now the troupe are back in the studio working on their follow up which I can only hope channels a little more of the odd bounce that came about from that remix record (as well as the minimal brilliance of Jamie’s solo tracks). But for now we can only speculate on what the producer will bring to the table as this demo is just about as stripped down as it gets, but hey, our hopes are high and yours shoudl be too. Enjoy below…

First off, Ridley Scott is the F-ckin man. The original Alien movie was absolutely terrifying, I remember watching it for my first time at a young age on Christmas Morning as my parents slept in. It was on TNT or something like that and I was absolutely GLUED to the set (and subsequently plagued by nightmares for the next few weeks) but it was a film that’s stuck with me over time, despite following films in the series progressively losing focus/quality/integrity culminating with the steaming pile of sh-t that was AVP. HOWEVER, have no fear, Ridley is back in the drivers seat to helm what’s been described as an “Alien Prequel” though how much crossover there is between the films remains to be seen. All I know, is it looks incredibly bad ass and we are long overdue for a killer sci-fi horror flick. Check out the trailer below…
