Congratulations to UW quaterback, Jake Locker, on his draft to the Tennessee Titans. It’s great for WA sports how he’s become a household name around the state – though for Coug fans, it’s probably out of hate! Here’s one little fan that will be sad to see him go: (via @NWNC)

You’ve heard many words and seen video from the few of us at the End staff who were lucky enough to attend, but here’s the “official” mini doc highlighting the location, lucky winner Jessica, and some in show footage that helps capture a little more of the atmosphere than perhaps a few excited DJ’s ever could.

In case you missed it, some of the cooler music video’s released this week:

It seems like artists making “short films” is all the rage
Of course the Beastie Boys did it right here and now get the same sorta treatment from Social Distortion and Lykke Li

Here’s Social D’s “Machine Gun Blues” and it’s nod to “The Untouchables”

and the captivating clip from Scandanavian song lady Lykke Li

It’s been a good week for one of our favorite new bands: The Joy Formidable

Let’s start with Dave Grohl tweeting about the band.

While the Foo Fighters frontman was in town for the Port Orchard garage show and surprise appearance at The Triple Door he was cruising around listening to The End (and calling us) when he heard “Whirring”

The track inspired him to hit Twitter and say:

“I would like to personally thank The Joy Formidable for writing song of
the year “Whirring”. Dave xxx”.

Then…we get a remix of their track “Austere” from End band Naked & Famous

If you’re bummed that you missed the band when they were here a couple weeks ago…don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. First, a little birdy tells us that they’ll be back in a big way at the end of the summer PLUS you can also enjoy these acoustic tracks the band recorded here at The End. Win Win.

We’re just a couple weeks away from the release of Thurston Moore’s (Sonic Youth) new solo record “Demolished Thoughts”

Produced by Beck with a very “Sea Change” like feel, it’s one of those “perfect storm” albums where a bunch of singular factors of awesome come together to create a cohesive unit of even greater awesome (did Keanu Reeves just write that?)

You’ll be able to pick up this masterpiece in waiting on May 24th.

A couple of weeks ago we got the first track from the album “Benediction” and now another is floating around called “Circulation”

Hear ‘em both below

In just as exciting news, Thurston is touring with Kurt Vile this summer. Initial West Coast dates have been announced and at first I was SUPER bummed that the tour seemed to skip Seattle (there are Vancouver & Portland dates), it didn’t take rocket scientist to figure out that there’s a gap in the schedule right around the time of the Capitol Hill Block Party. Given Sonic Youth’s relationship with that festvial it seems VERY likely we’ll get to see Moore then.

While the world watched Kate and William celebrate during the Superbowl of Weddings, this little flower girl is clearly over it. This picture may only be a few hours old, but the Miserable Face meme is already sweeping through the intertubes.  Check out some others:

I dont know why I thought this music guide was going to expose me to the next British “it” band…but by the looks of this video, you’ll wish you exposed yourself to a couple of no doz before you walked into Westminster Abbey.
