Vampire Weekend played Endsession 200 at the Gibson Showroom and treated us to an acoustic cover of Springsteen’s “I’m Going Down” and they nailed it!

Holy crap.

I have a friend who is repulsed by rubber bands. Let’s get her.

I always kinda assume that i’m the only person around that’s into super fast racing cars, motorcycles, and film until this weekend. While enjoying a day at Safeco to see the M’s lose again I made mention of traveling to Belgium for an F1 race and the dude in front of me turns with eyes wide and blurts out his love of Formula 1. We chat. Then later at dinner a gentleman at the track next to me brings up his love of racing and another convo springs to life.

I love old sports film and the lack of technology. Combine F1 with film and *boom* a kickass new sports movie… who’s trailer is only out in Japanese…

Never short of good idea’s, the guys in Radiohead have just made available a “fan made” concert DVD for absolutely free.

Last year at a show in Prague, the guys gave 50 fans flip cameras to record the entire evening.  The footage was pieced together, pro audio was used from the band and the ultimate DIY video was born.  Pretty cool.

The film is available in a number of formats right here.  Careful, according to Consequence of Sound it’s running slow right now due to high demand.

The creators of the video ask only that you honor the fact that this is “Strictly not for sale — By the fans, for the fans. Please share and enjoy.”

Here’s a taste of what it looks like:

“Idioteque”

Everyone knows Green Day’s “American Idiot” record.  The album that turned the band into a Grammy winning, Broadway starring, Arena filling mega-group.

However, did you know that before the guys started working on “American Idiot” they had another record COMPLETELY finished and the only reason it didn’t come out was because someone stole the master tapes from the studio?

The band has said that it’s probably best that they didn’t release “Cigarettes and Valentines” because it forced them into a creative space where they could create “American Idiot”.  That and producer Rob Cavallo basically said the record kinda stunk

While recording a forthcoming “live” record in Colorado last week, the guys took the opportunity to bust the title track from “Cigarettes and Valentines”.  LUckily for us, someone brought their phone.

The new Facebook movie “The Social Network” seems to be getting more and more interesting.

With 2 very cool looking trailers and a lot of VERY talented people on board (Director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin) this could easily be one of the best movies of an otherwise pretty bleak year at the box office.

Well to pile more coolness on top of the already large pile of coolness that is this movie, Trent Reznor and NIN producer Atticus Ross are scoring the film and we have new music!!!

According to 130BPM this is a clip called “Hard Cover Bruise”

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross – “Hand Covers Bruise” (No Piano) by Some Kind of Awesome

Like most people Reznor approached the idea of a “Facebook” movie with a little caution.  However, after reading the script and seeing what the people involved with the project were doing with it he jumped in head first.

We should see the entire soundtrack sometime before the movie comes out on October 1st.

Eddie Vedder co-headlined a benefit show for the West Memphis Three over the weekend in Little Rock, Arkansas (with the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines?).

It turns out a number of their famous friends also came out to help the cause of three men who have been in jail for years despite strong evidence pointing towards their innocence.

Ben Harper played a set,  Jospeh Arthur was on hand for some songs and then craziness began.

Johnny Depp!?! came out to play guitar on a song with Vedder and the legendary Patti Smith.  Here they are doing the Smith song “Dancing Barefoot”

At that point all they could do to top that moment was have everyone on stage for a good ole fashioned sing a long, this one to the tune of Smith’s “People Have the Power”
