Today the guys in Pearl Jam unveiled a video for a live version of the  song ‘Amongst The Waves”.

The track was recorded/shot at the Philly shows earlier this year (which have now become legendary) and will be available on I-Tunes starting July 6th.

Of course, being Pearl Jam, the $$ isn’t going to the band, but to benefit Conservation International’s Ocean Campaign, which is working hard on helping out with the oil spill in the Gulf right now.  As we have come to expect from the PJ camp, all class.

Like any successful horror movie (Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th, Saw etc), it looks like we are about to start a long string of sequels for last years massive hit, Paranormal Activity

After making the movie for $15K and then making $110 million, the producers thought it would be a good idea to try it again.

No way it’s as good, but I’ll see it anyway (falling perfectly into their plan :)

Hard to believe that it was 16 years ago today that Jeff Ament & Stone Gossard from Pearl Jam testified before Congress about the Ticketmaster Monopoly.

It was a fight that defined the band for years and almost ripped them apart.

There isn’t a ton of video out there of the hearing (anyone have some?)…here’s the closest thing I could find:

Here’s a transcript of the bands prepared statement

As most or all of you are aware, in early May of this year, our attorneys at Sullivan & Cromwell filed a memorandum with the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice in which we brought to the Government’s attention certain conduct by Ticketmaster that we believe is unlawfully interfering with our freedom to determine the price and other terms on which tickets to our concerts will be sold. The high price of concert tickets — especially the imposition of excessive service charges — is a significant issue to us and we believe to the public generally. In this statement we will discuss the reasons why Pearl Jam is especially sensitive to the price of tickets to our concerts; describe some of the incidents that led us to bring Ticketmaster’s conduct to the attention of the Justice Department; address the reasons why we believe Ticketmaster’s business practices violate the antitrust laws and the consequences those business practices have on us, on our fans, and on others who purchase tickets to concerts; and finally discuss the type of change we hope will occur in this industry and how Government action might help bring that about.

One of our favorite Portland Bands, The Thermals, have released the first song from their forthcoming record “Personal Life” which is set to be released on September 7th on Kill Rock Stars.

It was recorded “old school” with producer/DCFC guitarist Chris Walla. In this case, “Old School” means nothing digital (no pro-tools) just 2 inch tape that mixed to 1/2 inch tape and then mixed without computers (Consequence of Sound)

The 7′ single of this song will be available on August 10th, however a free download is available right now on Pitchfork

YOU can see The Thermals Labor Day Weekend in the Seattle Center for this years Bumbershoot.

After YEARS of nothing from the band Incubus, we’ve finally got something to look forward to it.

We found out this morning that Brandon Boyd has just finished making a solo record.  To his credit, it’s a REAL solo record, word is that he played ALL of the instruments.

The record is called “The Wild Trapeze”…and here’s the most exciting part…is going to be released NEXT WEEK!

This video for the song “Runaway Train” (not a Soul Aslyum cover) popped up on Brandon’s Facebook page about a week ago but was then pulled.

Luckily for us, some enterprising young internet junkie had the piece of mind to rip it.  Enjoy
